Axle Rebuilds — Front & Rear

Overview

Every Land Cruiser axle eventually needs a full rebuild. Worn bearings, leaking seals, and out-of-spec gears are common after decades of use. We rebuild both front and rear axles completely — cleaning, resealing, and resetting them to Toyota spec so they stay quiet, strong, and leak-free for years to come.

Front Axle Rebuild

Purpose: Restore proper steering feel, eliminate leaks, and correct gear contact.
Included Work:

  • Full teardown and clean of axle housing and components
  • New wheel bearings, trunnion bearings, and knuckle seals
  • New inner axle seals, hub gaskets, and felts
  • Spindle and hub bearings serviced or replaced
  • Knuckle hardware replaced or retorqued
  • Gear oil replaced; gear mesh and backlash verified
  • Axle housing cleaned, painted, and reassembled

Upgrade Options:

  • Chromoly birfields and inner axles
  • Heavy-duty knuckle kits (studs, arms, hardware)

Rear Axle Rebuild

Purpose: Fix leaks, quiet gear noise, and reset gear setup.
Included Work:

  • Complete teardown, clean, and inspection
  • New axle bearings, seals, and retainers
  • Carrier and pinion bearings replaced
  • Pinion depth, preload, and backlash set to spec
  • Housing cleaned and refinished
  • New vent and breather service
  • Fresh gear oil and break-in procedure

Upgrade Options:

  • Re-gearing for tire size or driving style
  • Lockers (ARB air locker )
  • Chromoly axle shafts for added strength

Gear Setup

If the axle is being re-geared, we reset everything to factory standards — pinion depth, preload, and backlash. Proper gear mesh means no whining, no heat, no surprises later. All work is done using Toyota setup tools and verified with contact pattern checks.

Testing & Final Checks

After assembly, every bolt is torqued to spec, fluids filled, and gear mesh double-checked. Front axles get a steering alignment and knuckle preload test. You’ll get a setup sheet and torque log for your record

End Result

Quiet, tight, and dependable axles built for real miles — not a one-season fix. Whether it’s stock gearing for road use or a re-geared, locked setup for trail duty, the finished product feels solid and drives right.
